Tashkent

The city was founded more than 2000 years ago. The population is 2,5 thousand.  Here you realise may be better than anywhere else what the words “new” and “old”mean. Tashkent as well as Bukhara, Samarkand , Shakhrisabs , Khiva  was situated on one of  the most important crossroads of the Great Silk Road. That is why here it was also possible to meet people from all over the world, who created their special  atmosphere  in the markets and chaikhanas. There also were small clay  huts and splendid palaces, numerous caravan-sarais, mosques and madressahs.

Unfortunately the old Tashkent was almost completely destroied by heavy earthquake of 1966.  Since old days not so much has been preserved.

But in any negative  phenomenon  one can find positive moments. Tashkent was not only restored in a very short time but became a real megapolis. Here our President has been working. Embassies of many countries are functioning here as well as different international represantations and institutions. 20%  of Uzbekistan industrial enterprises are situated here in Tashkent.

The capital of Uzbekistan is the most important cultural center of the republic. There are many different theaters here among which Bolshoi Theater of opera and ballet named after Navoi, numerous museums, libraries, Palaces of Culture, Univesities and Institutes. During the last years the city’s face changed  greatly: the old streets became wider and more beautiful, many modern high houses decorated with elements of traditional Uzbek architecture are beeing built.

The stations of Tashkent Metro reminds more the concert halls than the premises   of underground.

Large modern airport connects our capital with  the whole world. Here the progress is felt better than anywhere else.

WE  HOPE THAT VISIT OF MODERN , ANCIENT AND AT THE SAME TIME  YOUNG TASHKENT WILL

      BE INTERESTING FOR YOU.
